When Texas trial lawyer Mark Lanier woke up after four hours of sleep to cross-examine Mark Zuckerberg, his team had already been working through the night with AI doing a significant share of the heavy lifting.

Lanier told Business Insider that the AI-assisted workflow effectively tripled his team's output during the trial, which lasted over a month.

"In the 10 hours I might be working outside of court, I can get 30 hours of work done," he said, describing the setup as having ten fully briefed, round-the-clock staff members who never need a break.

Their team utilised AI tools to analyse the court transcript of everyday hearings, find out what the best supportive documents were for each point, and suggest better ways to present arguments to the jury.

The tool that Lanier used the most is called Boodlebox, and it is a learning platform that allows one to use several AI technologies such as ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini together.

He helped develop a unique licence with the firm, which cost him over six figures per year, using 42 years of his expertise and knowledge from publications to develop a customised solution that powered his questions and results.

He described it as being "Disney World versus a swing set in the backyard" compared to other popular AI systems.

Meta and Google were found negligent for knowing how dangerous their applications are but ignoring informing the public about the same.
