Steven Spielberg has laughed off conspiracy theories claiming that his new film, Disclosure Day, was made to prepare people for proof of alien life.

The movie follows a group of whistleblowers who want to reveal government secrets about extraterrestrial life and alleged cover-ups.

Speaking to Metro at the film's London premiere, Spielberg denied that the movie was created to get people ready for evidence of aliens.

"I’m not suggesting I know anything!" he said when asked about the theories.

The Oscar-winning director explained that he did not make the film to prepare people for possible alien disclosure. However, he said the movie was inspired by real reports, documentaries, and public discussions about UFOs, now known as UAPs (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena).

Spielberg said he based the story on documentaries and accounts from people in the US intelligence community who have spoken about UFO sightings.

The film is not only about alien life but also focuses on whistleblowers and government secrecy.

He noted that in recent years, several Air Force and Navy pilots have come forward with reports of unusual objects in the sky. He also referred to the famous "Tic Tac" UFO sighting reported by US military personnel in 2004.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Spielberg shared his views on government secrets.

He said he does not believe governments can keep major secrets for long. However, he suggested that private technology and defense companies may hold information that governments do not publicly share.

Spielberg said the film was partly inspired by the 2023 US congressional hearings on UAP sightings. He revealed that some of the language used in those hearings was included in the movie's dialogue.

While Spielberg rejected claims that the film is preparing people for an alien revelation, screenwriter David Koepp said his research changed his views.

Koepp told Metro that after reading documents and speaking to people, he now believes the US government has not been fully honest about certain unexplained events and may be hiding information from the public.
