Trump shocks the world by cancelling Iran attack hours before strikes

President Trump announced he has cancelled the military strikes he earlier announced on Iran after discussions with the Persian country.

He attributed calling off the strikes to an advance in negotiations.

"Based on the fact that discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran have been brought to the highest level of Iranian leadership and approved, I have, as President of the United States of America, cancelled the scheduled strikes and bombings against Iran this evening."

Several countries involved in ending the war, Trump wrote, have been on board for a final negotiated end to the hostilities.

"Discussions and final points have been, in both concept and great detail, approved by all parties involved, including the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, and others."

Despite calling off the attack, Trump said the U.S. blockade will remain in place until the agreement comes to fruition.

"The naval blockade will remain in full force and effect until this transaction is finalised — time and place of the signing to be announced shortly," the tweet read.
