Tom Hanks reacts to surprise Taylor Swift song in 'Toy Story 5'
Tom Hanks admits to total surprise about Taylor Swift’s Toy Story 5 song
Tom Hanks has revealed that even the cast of Toy Story 5 did not know about Taylor Swift’s new song until days before its release.
Hanks was at the film’s Los Angeles premiere on June 9 when he made the surprise revelation, saying the song was kept “top secret” by the studio.
The actor added that cast members found out only when were taken into a private room and told that Swift had recorded the movie’s final song, titled I Knew It, I Knew You.
Hanks said the cast had previously watched versions of the film with a temporary track instead of Swift’s music, making the reveal a complete surprise.
The singer first announced the song on June 1, saying she wrote it after watching an early screening of the film. The track was inspired partly by the character Jessie, voiced by Joan Cusack.
Swift later attended the premiere and performed the song live after the screening. She also sang You’ve Got a Friend in Me alongside Randy Newman, who created the original song for the first Toy Story film.
The new movie also brings back Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, while Conan O'Brien joins the cast as a new toy character.
