Alex Cooper explains why she waited until her 30s to become a mom
'Call Her Daddy' podcaster Alex Cooper opens up about deciding to have a baby in her 30s
Alex Cooper is looking back on the moment she realised she was finally ready to have a baby with husband Matt Kaplan.
In a recent episode of her podcast Call Her Daddy, Cooper revealed she originally planned to start a family after marrying Kaplan in 2024. However, she later decided she was not ready for motherhood.
“I wanted to focus on our relationship, work and myself,” she explained.
The 31-year-old said she and her husband decided to wait and spent the next couple of years travelling, reaching personal goals and enjoying married life together.
Cooper said everything changed during a quiet evening with Kaplan while they were sitting in a hot tub together. She told him she felt the only thing missing from their life was having a child together. “I have never felt more ready,” she recalled telling him.
The podcast host said the moment made her feel excited and calm because she felt secure in their relationship and future together. She also explained that waiting helped her feel more emotionally ready for motherhood.
Having a supportive partner also played a big part in her decision, Cooper admitted. “I have never felt more sure and confident in our partnership,” she insisted.
Cooper also spoke about enjoying her twenties and said she does not regret the choices she made before settling down.
“I wouldn't change a thing about the choices I made in my 20s, who I slept with, who I dated. I wouldn't be who I am today had I not had fun and explored and gotten my heart broken and gotten f***** over and f***** and made some mistakes and dealt with the consequences. Like, that's what I personally needed in order to be ready for this next phase of my life. But choosing motherhood in my 30s doesn't erase the right to have enjoyed my 20s."
The media personality announced her pregnancy in May.
