NewLimit develops age-reversing drug, human clinical trial set for 2027
The company founded by Brian Armstrong has closed a $435 million Series C funding
NewLimit has come up with a new anti-aging breakthrough by developing a drug that can reverse the aging in human cells.
Founded by Brian Armstrong, the company has closed a $435 million Series C funding round led by Founders Fund with participation from Thrive Capital, Greenoaks and Quiet Capital, alongside returning investors including Kleiner Perkins, Abstract, and others.
Taking to X official account, Armstrong has revealed the core focus of NewLimit which is based on tackling the aging which is the root cause of various problems.
The founder announced that “NewLimit now has a prototype drug that reverses the age of some human cells, restoring function they had when they were younger.”
The prototype drug will specifically target human liver cells by reversing the age of these cells. In research settings, this liver therapy has demonstrated the ability to heal the liver faster after injury, mitigate damage from dietary challenges, and accelerate recovery from alcohol consumption.
At the heart of the company's vision lies epigenetic reprogramming to restore youthful function to aged cells on the premise that cellular aging is reversible.
At first, it was thought that development would take a decade, but the company has accelerated its plans and now intends to start the first human clinical trial next year.
“Clinical trial scheduled for next year with more drug candidates in the pipeline,” Armstrong added.
The long-term mission of the company is to build a diverse portfolio of therapeutic programs ranging from metabolic, vascular, and immune health to treat diseases of aging and extend human healthspan.
NewLimit was founded in 2021 by Brian Armstrong, Jacob Kimmel, current CEO and President, and Blaker Byers.
