'Alaskan Bush People' star Matt Brown's search ends in tragedy as brother confirms death
The TV personality was reportedly missing since Thursday May 28
Alaskan Bush People star Matt Brown's death has been officially confirmed after he was found dead in a river in northern Washington state following an intense two-day search.
On Saturday, May 30, Matt's brother Bear Brown confirmed the news in a video posted on social media that he discovered a body in the river, which was later identified as Matt's.
According to Matt's brother, he might have taken his own life as Bear talked about an injury on Matt's body seemingly "self-inflicted."
Bear said in a video posted on his TikTok account, "I would've never expected he would hurt himself, honestly.
"He struggled for a long time with addiction and I was so worried for a long time that he was going to OD. I didn't think that he would hurt himself."
It is pertinent to mention that Matt was addicted to drugs and alcohol prior to his death.
Bear first addressed his fear regarding Matt's suspected death on Thursday, after he was reportedly seen floating away in a river but noted at the time that he couldn't "confirm that's true."
Matt's brother also revealed his brother had distanced himself from his family after being axed from the reality show after struggling with substance abuse.
"On the subject of y'all saying the family turned their back on Matt, that's just not true. We don't publicize everything," Bear said in a video on Friday.
He added at the time, "Matt has done a lot of bad things, a lot of bad things that y'all don't know about. A lot of bad things. Y'all's opinion would change. Now is not the time to speak on stuff like that, in my opinion."
For those unversed, Matt was starred as the original cast on Discovery Channel's hit reality series Alaskan Bush People and appeared on almost 80 episodes.
