Hannah Waddingham gets candid about 'Ted Lasso' season 4 return
Hannah Waddingham opens up about returning in 'Ted Lasso' season 4
Ted Lasso, a hit show on Apple TV+, at first was said to end with season 3.
However, Hannah Waddingham, who famously portrayed Rebecca Welton, was unconvinced.
She suspected the series would return for season 4.
Her reason was derived from the fact that her character Rebecca had a happy ending in season 3.
“Because that’s too much of a cliffhanger to be had,” she told Variety.
And then her hunch turned out to be correct.
When she received the call for season four, Waddingham described it as "so glad it did."
"The idea of never playing Rebecca again felt like losing a pal," she said.
However, arriving in season 4 was not smooth sailing.
Given season 3 was delayed and several times paused by rewrites by Jason Sudeikis, who starred in and co-created Ted Lasso.
Similarly in season 4, Waddingham said, "There’s always going to be a bit of give-and-take within a scene, because of the nature of how Sudeikis works."
“He hears it in the room, and then we tweak. With that boy, you’ve got to roll with the punches."
"He and I have an ongoing love-hate relationship, and he changes it at the last minute," she concluded.
Ted Lasso season 4 arrives on Apple TV+ on Aug. 5.
