Linda Perry delivers savage blow to Billie Joe Armstrong for ghosting her before major career move
Linda Perry recently reminisced about the time when Green Day did not respond to her after she was about to produce their follow-up to American Idiot.
While chatting with NME, the 61-year-old American singer-songwriter and musician revealed that Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong ceased all communication without any explanation after she was asked to produce the band's follow-up record to 2004's American Idiot.
Perry shared, “I had a full calendar and canceled six months of work to do it. I met with Billie Joe and we talked for three hours… Like every artist, I think he had got to a point where you feel like I have nothing to say and need help — there's a therapy aspect to producing too.”
In My Dreams songstress tasted success after becoming a frontwoman of the ‘90s rock band 4 Non Blondes. She then tried her luck in song writing and wrote hit tracks over the years, such as Pink’s Get the Party Started and Christina Aguilera's Beautiful.
Perry went on to share that Courtney Love sabotaged her plans to produce an album with Green Day after publicly sharing, which drew negative backlash from fans.
“And then those guys just stopped calling me. I would reach out to figure out what was going on. Nobody called. I lost six months of scheduled work. That was f****** up — all because Billie Joe's a little pussy and got all this backlash from his fans and didn't like it,” she recalled.
