Final season confirmed for 'Emily in Paris'

Lily Collins’s hit series Emily in Paris will officially end after its upcoming sixth season, Netflix confirmed on May 21.

Production on the final season has already begun, with filming taking place in Greece.

In a statement, creator Darren Star said the show has been “the trip of a lifetime” and thanked Netflix, Paramount, and fans for supporting the series since its launch.

“Making Emily in Paris with this extraordinary cast and crew has been the trip of a lifetime. As we embark on the final season, I am so grateful to Netflix, Paramount and, most importantly, the fans who have taken this incredible journey with us," Star, 64, added. 

He said the team is now focused on delivering a final chapter that wraps up Emily Cooper’s story.

"We can’t wait to share this last chapter with you. Thank you for letting us be a part of your lives, inspiring your dreams of travel and your love of Paris. We will always have Emily in Paris!” he concluded.

Lily Collins also appeared in a video message confirming the news. She said she wanted to share that season 6 would be the show’s last after six years of playing Emily Cooper.

She said the final season would include “everything fans love” and act as the closing chapter of Emily’s journey.

"Hey, it's Lily, I just wanted to share something with you all," Collins said in the footage. "After six unforgettable years of playing Emily Cooper, I'm here to share that this upcoming sixth season will be our final."

Collins added that the cast and crew are working on making the farewell season special while filming continues.

She added, "Season 6 will bring you everything you love about the show and serve as the final chapter in Emily's adventure of a lifetime. Our entire cast and crew are pouring our hearts into making this a fantastic farewell season, which we're now filming. I can't wait for all the magic ahead and to celebrate our final season with you in the most chic way yet. We're so incredibly grateful and we love you all, à bientôt!"

Emily in Paris first premiered in October 2020 and quickly became one of Netflix’s most popular global shows. The series follows Emily Cooper, a young American marketing executive who moves to Paris for work and navigates career challenges, relationships, and cultural clashes.

The show’s fifth season followed Emily as she faced new professional setbacks while building her life in Europe. Season 6 will now serve as the final chapter of the series’ run on Netflix.

Filming locations for the final season will also include Monaco.
