Warren Buffett and Stephen Curry charity lunch sells for $9 million

A charity auction offering lunch with billionaire investor Warren Buffett and NBA star Stephen Curry has raised more than $9 million for two non-profit organisations.
The winning bid of $9,000,100 was placed during a week-long auction on eBay that ended on Thursday. The identity of the bidder has not been disclosed.
Buffett, Curry and Curry’s wife, Ayesha Curry, will host the winner and up to seven guests at a lunch in Omaha, Nebraska, on June 24.
According to the organisations involved, proceeds from the auction will be split between the Glide Foundation and Eat. Learn. Play..
Buffett is also expected to match the winning bid for both charities, bringing the total donation to around $27 million.
Glide supports people facing poverty, homelessness and substance abuse in San Francisco, while Eat. Learn. Play. focuses on childhood literacy, nutrition and physical activity.
Buffett has supported Glide for decades and previously raised more than $53 million through charity lunch auctions between 2000 and 2022.
The investor, whose fortune is estimated at $143.5 billion by Forbes, has pledged to donate most of his wealth to charity.
