Kevin McKidd hints at 'Grey's Anatomy' comeback right after exit
Kevin McKidd has been part of 'Grey's Anatomy' for years
In Grey's Anatomy, Kevin McKidd was a mainstay as Dr. Owen Hunt, a trauma surgeon introduced in Season 5.
Now, in the Season 22 finale, he has departed the show, settling in Paris after leaving Seattle.
However, exiting the show, in McKidd's view, is not permanent.
He is open to returning to the iconic ABC drama as both an actor and a director.
As the star explains to People, “I would do both in a heartbeat,” McKidd, 52, says when asked whether he would ever return as an actor or director. “I love the character, Owen, and again, he's not dead, so there'll be a chance that that can happen.”
“I would embrace that opportunity with wide open arms,” he adds. “Because we really are a family there.”
With 45 episodes credited to McKidd's name as a director, he hints at returning to behind the camera on Grey's Anatomy soon.
“I'll be finished [with] that in June,” the actor says, referring to his shooting of the new miniseries The Only Suspect.
“Then I'll be looking at coming back to L.A. and probably directing one of the first episodes of the [next] season. So yeah, it's not over for me yet.”
Grey's Anatomy is streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
