New Day shocker: Kofi Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods left WWE
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have been part of the New Day team in the WWE
The New Day, for now, has been no more as Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have departed the WWE.
The exit, according to CBS, marked the end of one of the WWE’s iconic tag teams.
Kingston, Woods, and Big E — the trio first arrived as a team in 2014 and quickly turned into fan-favourites through their antics after WWE revamped them from the original black gospel superstars get-up.
During their run as a team, they won 13 WWE-branded tag team titles, making them the most successful tag team in the company’s history.
That’s not it.
For the SmackDown tag team title, The New Day has the most titles, which are seven. While in Raw, they held the longest tag team title reign.
Aside from being a hit team, the New Day similarly tend to utilize the ‘Freebird Rule’ — letting them choose whoever defends the belt.
Yet, a blow was delivered in the face of Big E’s exit after he was injured, forcing him to take early retirement in 2022.
Meanwhile, before The New Day, Kingston had a well-known career in WWE.
In 2008, he was part of the roster. The wrestler won four Intercontinental and three United States title reigns.
Kingston and Woods join the list of 16 superstars who were recently axed from the WWE.
