Cristiano Ronaldo to retire soon? What Portuguese footballer said about soccer future
Al Nassr defeated Al-Ahli in historic match on Wednesday
Cristiano Ronaldo has opened about his future plans regarding his professional career after Al Nassr secured victory against Al Ahli on Wednesday.
With this significant triumph, Ronaldo also scored his 970th goal in the match, pushing Al Nassr closer to win the title in Saudi Pro League.
In a post-match interview, Portuguese football players admitted that the end of his career is approaching fast but he still enjoys this competitive gaming landscape.
“The end of my career is approaching. Let’s enjoy every match,” said Al Nassr’s captain.
“My career has been brilliant, and I want it to continue being so, I’m still enjoying it, I’m still scoring goals. But above all, it’s about winning. And we’re very eager to win the league,” Ronaldo added.
“I continue playing not only for this generation, but also for the previous one and for the one to come. I enjoy it day by day, game by game, year after year, even now that I am approaching the end of my career. That is a fact.”
However, he did not reveal the definite timeline regarding his professional career.
During the interview, Ronaldo also hit back on criticism which Saudi Pro League has been receiving based on various allegations like favoritism provided to Ronaldo’s team.
“I think this is not good for the league. Everyone complains. This is football, this is not a war. We know we have to fight, everyone wants to win. But not everything is allowed.”
"I am going to speak at the end of the season because I've seen many, many bad things," he added.
Ronaldo is also determined to help Al Nassr win their first title since 2019.
