Matthew McConaughey's hero moment described by co-star: 'He saved me'
Matthew McConaughey has a reputation for being a gentleman in the industry
Matthew McConaughey and Judy Greer starred in The Wedding Planner, but the latter had a hero moment in real life, and it was by her co-star.
The actress recalls in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that, at the time she was working on the movie, her financial situation was poor.
It was so poor that she remembers she could not even pay the valet at the Roosevelt Hotel, where she attended a table read for The Wedding Planner, where she portrayed Penny.
“I valeted my car; I didn’t know any better,” Greer said. “I didn’t have enough money to get my car out of the valet because I was so broke."
Stuck at a lobby, she called her friend for cash, and in her worst moment, McConaughey entered as a hero.
"I was on the payphone in the lobby, calling my friend Sean Gunn, and Matthew McConaughey overheard me and gave me $20. I was so mortified, but also my hero.”
Aside from this, Greer recounts fond memories of working with the Oscar winner in the rom-com, saying, “I loved seeing him in hair and makeup every morning, because he had pyjamas on and a Yerba mate [tea]. I haven’t worked with him since, but I have a feeling not much has changed.”
The Wedding Planner, released in 2001, was a hit, raking in $94 million at the box office, starring McConaughey and Jennifer Lopez.
