Barbara Eden reflects on her role in 'I Dream of Jeannie'
Barbara Eden recalled her time while playing the titular character on 'I Dream of Jeannie'
Barbara Eden has proven that some magic never fades.
In her latest chat with PEOPLE Magazine, Barbara Eden has shared that the pilot episode of I Dream of Jeannie remains her favorite after nearly six decades.
As fans will be aware, Eden portrayed the iconic character of a 2,000-year-old genie, Jeannie, in the show in discussion.
“That definitely is the one I've always thought was the best," Eden shares at the Beverly Hills Film Festival on April 13.
While the show officially ended decades ago, the actress notes that reruns have kept it very much alive over the years.
“She's always been on the air. Never been off," Eden claimed.
Eden went on to point out a rare feat in the television industry that show has transitioned from a prime-time hit to a staple of global syndication without ever disappearing
"I have lots of mail from Russia, from China, from places you'd never imagine, all over Europe, Spain, France, the U.K.,” Eden added.
Reportedly, she still receives “thank yous” from fans who express “how much they enjoy it.”
“But a lot of times, many times, it's people who've been in trouble who've had a sad upbringing. And many told me that ... the bottle to them was a refuge, Jeannie's bottle,” Eden added.
With that being, Eden reflected on what the show meant to her and said that it “just happiness for me," adding, “I loved it. I loved it."
Before conclusion, she said, "Of course, once I left Jeannie, I did a lot of other things, but it was very fulfilling for me."
