Joseph Baena shares how Arnold Schwarzenegger sparked his love for bodybuilding: 'I fell in love'
Joseph Baena opens up about training alongside dad Arnold Schwarzenegger
Arnold Schwarzenegger's bodybuilder son Joe Baena is giving credit to his father for his bodybuilding career.
Baena, whom Schwarzenegger welcomed with Mildred Patricia Baena, revealed in a recent chat with GQ how his father sparked his interest in bodybuilding after he showed his interest in health while in college.
“My dad gave me the bodybuilding encyclopedia,” Baena told the outlet.
It is pertinent to mention that Schwarzenegger used to be a professional bodybuilder, making his debut in Hollywood.
“I was flipping through that, trying to learn how to grow the biceps, and I fell in love with weightlifting,” he continued. “I fell in love with eating healthy. I fell in love with learning about the body and how it reacts to training, and I became very passionate about it.”
But Schwarzenegger's support did not stop there, instead, he stepped into the gym with Baena and personally trained him.
He gushed over training beside his partner. “He’s the best training partner. I don’t know what to say," he said.
“He pushes me. He makes sure that I don’t slack off in the gym. When the carbs are low, and the calories are low and I start getting tired, he pumps me up,” Baena added.
