Meryl Streep 'chuffed' after surprising family link to Anna Wintour revealed
The actress and the fashion journalist share unexpected family link
Meryl Streep and Anna Wintour are distant relatives!
A new Ancestry.com study has found that the former 'Vogue' head and the three-time Oscar-winning legend are distantly genetically related, Entertainment Weekly reported.
As Meryl has played the character of ruthless fashion editor Miranda Priestly in 'The Devil Wears Prada,' a character inspired by Anna’s personality and professional endeavors, the actress said she is "chuffed" about the finding.
“Well THAT explains EVERYTHING," Meryl told the outlet in a statement.
"As our ancestors would say, I am chuffed!" she gushed.
Ancestry's press release said that it found the connection through "using its billions of historical records and public family trees" that Meryl and Anna are sixth cousins through relatives named Elizabeth Kinsey and Thomas Smith.
It is pertinent to mention that Meryl and Anna both were born in 1949, Anna in November, while Meryl was born in June.
Now, as the second intallment of 'Devil Wears Prada' is all set to release in May, Meryl is reprising her role of fashion editor opposite Anne Hathaway.
The first film was based on writer Lauren Weisberger's 'Devil Wears Prada' novel. Lauren was an ex-'Vogue' employee.
