Jealous clash over boyfriend at Texas gym ends in arrest
The incident happened at a gym in Harris County on January 7
A Texas gym became an unlikely crime scene after a confrontation over a boyfriend after a woman allegedly threw a weight plate in anger.
According to Harris County authorities via MyTexasDaily.com, the incident happened on January 7 at a gym on Lake Plaza Drive. Deputies rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a clash.
Investigators say Aralyn Martinez confronted another woman after recognising her as someone linked to her boyfriend. It started as a heated exchange but quickly became physical.
According to deputies, Martinez grabbed a weighted plate and hurled it at the woman’s head, an act investigators believe was meant to cause serious injury. The severity of the moment peaked when an arrest was made.
Soon after, Martinez was arrested and later booked into the Harris County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault. Her bond was set at $1,000.
"Aralyn Martinez was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Aggravated Assault," Harris County Constable Mark Herman said in a statement.
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and they have not ruled out reviewing gym surveillance footage, according to Harris County officials.
