Fans accuse Duffer Brothers of using Chatgpt in 'Stranger Things'
Just weeks after its release on Netflix, the hit series Stranger Things have been dragged into a shocking controversy.
Fans have accused the creators Matt and Ross Duffer of using artificial intelligence in writing the series.
It comes as the behind-the-scenes documentary One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5 was released on January 12. Some users noticed a number of ChatGPT tabs opened on computer screen, sparking rumours of AI tools being used in crafting the show's finale.
Fans questioned the creative process in the making of finale, which has already been criticised for lacking emotional payoff. One user wrote, "The Duffer Brothers used ChatGPT to write Stranger Things Season 5. Now we know why the finale felt off."
Another added, "They were using ChatGPT and Reddit while working on the ending. No wonder it felt incomplete," as quoted by an Indian news outlet.
Stranger Things, created by Duffer Brothers debuted in 2016 and concluded in 2025. The show became one of Netflix's most successful series, which launched the careers of stars including Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard.
It is pertinent to mention that Duffer Brothers Matt and Ross Duffer have not addressed the accusations.

In the documentary One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5, Duffer Brothers explained that the executives were pushing for scripts while production was underway. As per the brothers, it was the most stressful writing environment they had ever experienced.
