Nicole Eggert finds strength in solitude during breast cancer battle
Nicole Eggert reflected on ‘magical’ moments amid cancer treatment
Nicole Eggert is opening up about her breast cancer treatment, admitting she felt comfortable all by herself amid "this crazy journey."
During a recent panel discussion at Breast Cancer Symposium with SurvivorNet in San Antonio, the Baywatch alum shared her cancer journey and connecting with people going through a similar phase.
“We hear one in eight women get breast cancer. But personally in my life, I don't know anybody,” she told People. “So to meet new friends and to surround yourself with people who are also just living their life and going through this crazy journey, it's really hard to put words to it, to be honest. But it's really magical.”
The 53-year-old actress also revealed that during the conversation at the event she had her "aha moment" which was the realization that, unlike other breast cancer patients she is at peace with the fact that she is going through this tough time alone.
“Everybody kept talking about their spouses and who took care of them and how they wouldn't have made it through without this person. And my experience was so very different. Not only because I'm single and not married, but I really enjoyed spending the time with myself," Nicole explained.
The actress, who was diagnosed with stage 2 cancer back in 2024, recalled, "When I got my diagnosis, I felt alone. It was a moment where there was nobody else dealing with it really except me. Like, I had to deal with this, I had to go through this, I had to walk through this, and only I could do that.”
“It was just this moment of feeling like there's nothing anybody can do for you. It's between me and my body now. And so for me and my journey and through treatment, I very much appreciated the time just alone with my body. Really listening to it and learning it and appreciating it and trying to build it back up," she added.
