Zooey Deschanel, Charlie Cox on 'Dirty Dancing' nod in new Christmas film

Zooey Deschanel and Charlie Cox had no problem nailing the iconic dirty dancing lift step.

In the Prime Video movie Merv, Zooey, and Charlie play a recently separated couple who take their depressed dog on a trip to lift his spirits. 

In a scene during the trip, the duo attempts the Dirty Dancing lift from the final scene of the beloved movie.

However, the lift goes badly, and Zooey falls into a pool behind Charlie.

"They got it in one take. Thank God," Zooey told People, and Charlie confirmed, "Yeah, it was the first take. That's right."

"We had a lot of rehearsal with that, and then figuring out how to shoot it, because the very last part was a stunt. It was very unsafe," the New Girl allum continued.

"The stunt doubles did an amazing job," she added

The Daredevil: Born Again star agreed, saying, "They did a great job, because it really looks like a mistake."

In Dirty Dancing, the scene, choreographed to (I've Had) The Time of My Life, featured the film’s lead stars Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze.

Alongside Zooey and Charlie, Merv also stars Chris Redd, Patricia Heaton, David Hunt, Ellyn Jameson, Wynn Everett and more.
