The Hobart Hurricanes secured their first Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) title with a paramount eight-wicket win over Perth Scorchers.
The victory capped a perfect season, which successfully dominated the ladder and earned a direct entry.
Pursuing 138 for victory, Hurricanes opener Lee smashed 10 fours and four sixes in her 44-ball knock at Hobart’s Ninja Stadium against the tiring Scorchers.
As reported by BBC, England captain Nat Sciver-Burnt added 35 off 27 in a stand of 77 with Lee, bringing Hurricanes so close to victory that Nicola Carey was able to slap one through the covers to hit winning runs with five overs to spare.
Hurricane captain Elyse Villani said, “It feels really magical, a fairytale, I am really emotional.“
She further explained, “In contrast to the havoc she caused with bat in hand, former South Africa international Lee said it has been a relaxed day.“
The Hurricanes secured their spot in the WBBL final with a successful performance. This victory means Melbourne Stars are the only team left that has not won one the competition since it began in 2015.
Additionally, the highest run scorer in this year's tournament could not secure freely against Hobart.
It has been observed that with scoring stalling, Mooney backed away and tried to hit Heather Graham down the ground and was bowled for 33 off 26 balls.
No doubt Hurricanes demonstrated an outstanding performance, using disciplined bowling to restrict the Scorchers and set up an overwhelming target.
This victory not only delivers its first-ever WBBL trophy but also establishes the Hurricanes as a dominant force in the competition.
