Toby Sandeman makes jaw-dropping statement about his role in 'Twelve Dates 'Til Christmas'
Toby Sandeman reveals why he decised to play his character in Hallmark's 'Twelve Dates 'Til Christmas'
Toby Sandeman recently got candid and opened up about his role in Hallmark's Twelve Dates 'Til Christmas.
For those unaware, the 37-year-old English actor, international model and double gold medallist who represented Great Britain in the 200 metres plays the role of Richard, a love interest of Kate (played by Mae Whitman).
Per the synopsis, Sandeman was attracted to the character because of his different personality and surprised Kate during their meeting and "reinvigorates her zest for life."
While conversing with PEOPLE during a visit to the series set in Ireland, he said, "What really drew me to Richard is the fact that... It's interesting, when I look at characters, one of the first things I look at is, what's similar and what's different? And what jumped out to me was that Richard doesn't carry the suspicion of the world that I do.”
The Game star explained, "I have these weird quirks when I go to a restaurant, I have to sit in a certain way, I have to face forward. When I was walking with Mary [McDonnell], who plays Delilah, I said, 'Let me walk on the outside'. Very gentleman-like, but these are things that are me."
However, his character Richard is totally different, as he is "not confined by these things," and this is what hit him.
"He wants to be inspired by love, so he goes off to Paris. There's a lot more spontaneity to how he moves and I thought, 'That would be very exciting to explore,'” Sandeman stated.
Before concluding, it is pertinent to mention that new episodes of Twelve Dates 'Til Christmas air every Friday at 8 p.m. ET on Hallmark Channel.
