Kim Kardashian clarifies why she fights for justice
Kim Kardashian, ex-wife of Ye, emphasizes her support for criminal justice advocacy during her graduation from law school
After six years of study, Kim Kardashian, the former wife of Kanye West, has graduated from law school to further her cause for criminal justice reform.
But a light moment is observed during her graduation party, which was shown in The Kardashians' latest episode.
One of the guests, Van Jones, who is a political analyst, made a speech where he quips, "No one up here is gonna be petty, so I'm gonna be petty: people said this was about publicity. This whole thing was supposed to be some kind of a publicity... stunt."
If that is true, he continues, "it is the most labor-intensive publicity stunt in the history of publicity stunts. What kind of publicity stunt takes six years? No."
Kim, in reply, carries on with the joke, stating, “It was nice for him to say, but I was like, oh, this man does not know me. Kim K. would take six years for a PR stunt. Does he know who I am?"
Bringing her sister Kourtney, she says, "I was thinking, like, 'Kourtney’s gonna be onto me.' Of course, I’d take six years for a PR stunt!" calling it "the most genius [stunt] of all time."
However, despite this being a joke, Kim made sure to clarify her passion for criminal justice, "I mean, that’s not why I’m in it, but you know what I mean."
Van, who is also a supporter of the Skims mogul's cause, noted in his speech that "It's a lonely fight, you get the smallest grants, your phone call gets returned last — if at all."
"And then a miracle happened: the biggest star in the world, a household name — if you go to Antarctica, the penguins know who the Kardashians are — raised her hand, said she wanted to help," he says of Kim, gushing about her work.
Similarly, the 45-year-old returns the compliment, saying, "This whole process of law school has taken a village. It really started with Van Jones, who recommended I do this program."
It is worth noting that Kanye's ex-wife Kim failed the California bar exam in July, despite having graduated. However, her aspiration for becoming a lawyer has not waned.
