King Charles reprimanded Sarah Ferguson's father over humiliating defeat

King Charles once reprimanded Sarah Ferguson’s father, Major Ronald Ferguson, over a polo match against Major James Hewitt amid rumours of the officer’s closeness to his wife, the late Princess Diana, according to royal writer James Whitaker.

The late author, in his 1993 book "Charles Vs Diana", recounts that Charles, then Prince of Wales, rebuked Ferguson after a charity polo match in which the two men appeared on opposing teams.

It remains unclear whether his anger really emanated from the defeat his team suffered at the hands of Hewitt's.

“Why didn’t you tell me that man was playing?” Charles was quoted as asking his longtime polo manager, Ronald Ferguson, who replied that the match-up had been in the newspapers for days.

The match, a few days after Diana's 30th birthday, took place as Diana’s involvement with Hewitt was drawing media attention.

Ronald Ferguson was the father of former Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, who was recently deprived of her royal title after her former husband Prince Andrew was stripped of his titles over his links to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

While stripping him of his princely title, King Charles also ordered his younger brother to vacate Royal Lodge, which Andrew shared with his former wife.

According to multiple reports, the mother of two is currently looking for a new home separate from Andrew.

Andrew, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, will reportedly move to Sandringham House after he leaves Royal Lodge.
