Sarah Ferguson seeks independence following Andrew controversy
Sarah Ferguson takes control of her life amid Jeffrey Epstein scandal
Sarah Ferguson is planning to find her own home near Windsor as she and ex-husband and former Prince Andrew prepare to leave Royal Lodge.
A source told The Times that Fergie wants to stay in the UK and have her own space so she can live independently and continue her personal projects.
"She wants to stay in the UK, ideally in the Windsor area, and she wants to have her own base so that she can live independently and continue to pursue many things as Sarah Ferguson,” a source close to the former Duchess of York said.
Meanwhile, Andrew is expected to move to a smaller property on the Sandringham estate in the New Year, but Fergie will not be joining him.
This comes after it was reported that Fergie has asked King Charles for a new royal home amid Royal Lodge eviction.
According to reports, her demand did not sit well with palace insiders as she has not been a working royal for decades.
As per The Mirror, an insider said Fergie had her eye on Adelaide Cottage which highlights what experts describe as a disconnect between her expectations and reality.
"If they think that having two homes - which the King I'm sure won't agree to - is likely to solve things, they're still living in a rather weird fantasy world,” royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Daily Mail.
He continued, “I'm surprised that Sarah Ferguson has managed these comebacks. There's no comeback now, she's in disgrace.”
"There's no reason at all that she should [have her own Crown Estate] home. This is an idea that Andrew has had to give up 30-room Royal Lodge.
“Well, let's have two. I don't see it working. If it was adopted, there'd be outrage... she's not been a working royal since 1996 - the idea that should get anything on the Crown Estate... it doesn't matter what she wants, she is getting out of touch with reality as he has so obviously been."
