Meghan Markle was hit with troubling news just after the release of her ‘With Love, Meghan’ Christmas special show on Netflix.
According to reports, the Duchess of Sussex’s estranged father, Thomas Markle, was rushed into intensive care in the Philippines following emergency surgery.
Speaking with Daily Mail, Meghan's half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., doctors warned that their father’s life was in “imminent danger” before he was taken by ambulance to a larger hospital for the procedure.
"I took dad to a hospital close to our home, and they did various scans, and the doctors said his life was in imminent danger,” he said.
“They raced us by ambulance, with the sirens going, to a much bigger hospital in the center of the city. My dad has undergone emergency surgery,” added Thomas Jr.
“I would ask everyone around the world to keep him in their thoughts."
It has not been reported if Meghan reached out to check up on her father as she has been estranged from him since before her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.
Moreover, the Duchess’ sister Samantha said the 79-year-old has already survived heart attacks, a stroke and other hardships, adding that the family is hoping he is strong enough to pull through.
“My father has been through two heart attacks, a stroke, and an earthquake. I hope he can pull through this,” Samantha said.
"He is a strong man, but he has been through so much. I am praying that he is strong enough to survive this," she added.
