A royal expert has disclosed the real reason why King Charles will not meet his estranged son Prince Harry, daughter-in-law Meghan Markle and grandchildren Archie and Lilibet during his State visit to US next year.
Writing for the Hello! Magazine, royal expert Robert Jobson has claimed over King Charles meeting with his California-based royals the monarch will not reunite with them during US trip
He said it would "eclipse" the state visit.
“But there will be no detour.”
The expert said, “While some close to the palace quietly suggest the Sussexes could travel east for a discreet meeting in Washington, their presence would dominate headlines, eclipsing the state visit, so for that reason, it remains improbable.”
King Charles has not seen his grandkids in person since 2022 when they travelled to UK with their parents Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Meanwhile, King Charles and Harry last met in person in September this year for the first time in 19 months during a 54-minute private tea at Clarence House.
There are reports King Charles and Queen Camilla will travel to US for a state visit next April in a historic trip to celebrate the country’s 250th birthday.
There has been talk that Prince William and Kate Middleton could accompany King Charles and Camilla to the US, but sources have signalled that this is unlikely.
The palace has not confirmed yet, however, The Sun reported last month US President Donald Trump plans to host King Charles in a lavish State visit planned for the spring — if the monarch’s health allows him to travel.
