Sarah Ferguson housing demand adds to King Charles’ tensions
Royal experts say Sarah Ferguson's demand is out of touch after asking for Crown Estate home
Sarah Ferguson has sparked fresh controversy after reportedly asking for a new royal home amid Royal Lodge eviction.
According to reports, the former Duchess of York’s demand has not sit well with palace insiders as she has not been a working royal for decades.
As per The Mirror, an insider said Fergie had her eye on Adelaide Cottage which highlights what experts describe as a disconnect between her expectations and reality.
Speaking on the matter, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said Fergie’s request shows how out of touch she and Andrew have become.
"If they think that having two homes - which the King I'm sure won't agree to - is likely to solve things, they're still living in a rather weird fantasy world. I'm surprised that Sarah Ferguson has managed these comebacks. There's no comeback now, she's in disgrace,” he told Daily Mail.
The expert added, "There's no reason at all that she should [have her own Crown Estate] home. This is an idea that Andrew has had to give up 30-room Royal Lodge.
“Well, let's have two. I don't see it working. If it was adopted, there'd be outrage... she's not been a working royal since 1996 - the idea that should get anything on the Crown Estate... it doesn't matter what she wants, she is getting out of touch with reality as he has so obviously been."
Fergie lost her royal residence after her former husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, with whom she was sharing Royal Lodge, was stripped of his royal titles and home due to their past ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
