Craig Melvin aims big with his new business venture: 'Really excited'
Craig Melvin opens up about the hidden agenda behind his candle business
Craig Melvin has finally opened up about starting a family candle business, Melvin Made.
In a talk with PEOPLE magazine, the 46-year-old American broadcaster revealed that he and his family are launching a candle business called Melvin Made with an aim to help cancer charity originations.
Melvin said that his new venture will facilitate cancer charities, including those that have accommodated his own cancer-surviving relatives.
Voicing his thoughts, he quipped, "I'm really excited about it. The goal is to sell these things and raise awareness about a variety of cancers to get people talking about screenings, listening to your body and talking about family histories. This is another tool to do that."
Notabl, the ingredients used in the making of candles are coconut oil and phthalate-free fragrances.
In addition, they are made in two different sizes, 16 ounce and 10 ounce, and will also be available in five different scents, including Pink Jasmine, Lindsay, Betty Jo, Southern Office, and Hilton Head. The collection will have a sixth seasonal addition called Fireside Frankincense.
"One of the candle fragrances is actually named after my younger brother Ryan's late daughter, Jasmine. It's a nod to her, but also to him introducing me to the concept of candle making years ago,” Craig Melvin remarked.
