A pilot has died in a tragic incident that two light planes collided mid-air in southwest Sydney on the morning of Sunday, November 30.
Meanwhile, emergency services were called to the scene of a plane near Napper AirField in Wedderburn around 11:50 a.m.
Concerning the situation, police were told two light aircraft had collided mid-air, before one of the planes crashed into nearby bushland.
According to reports, the body of one of the pilots was located close by. The second plane was able to land safely, and the pilot was uninjured.
The body of a pilot believed to be the sole occupant of the plane was found by emergency services.
The Australian Transport Bureau (ATSB) will carefully examine the situation as locals have been urged to avoid the area.
Consequently, an investigation will be launched to thoroughly investigate the cause of the crash.
It is advised that anyone with information come forward.
Investigations are ongoing to scrutinize the actual cause of the fatal collision, which involves gathering evidence, and analysing wreckage.
In addition, members of the public are advised to avoid particular areas till further notification.
