Council finally takes first step about Andrew Mountbatten Windsor

A council in Northern Ireland has finally taken the first step towards the removal of Prince Andrew Way which was named after the disgraced former prince, now known exclusively as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

The decision to begin its removal process started back in Monday and according to Traditional Unionist Voice party member Anna Henry “Regrettably the alleged actions of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor have made it impossible for this council to continue honouring him in the manner the good people of Mid and East Antrim have done in the past.”

The motion has even been backed by unionist parties and Sinn Féin but the council’s interim serving chief executive, Valerie Watts explains that this may not be as straightforward a decision as assumed.

Firstly, “residents absolutely need to be consulted because it can have far-reaching implications for them, such as changing your address for your bank account, credit cards, driver’s licence, utility bills etc. However, it can be done and council do have the power to change street names.”

For those unversed, Andrew lost his titles as a result of the backlash that followed his late accuser's memoir, Nobody's Girl. While the author has since passed away as a result of suicide the King took the step to strip his brother of his heriditary titles, once t

hought impossible, and even decided to move him from Royal Lodge that is funded using taxpayer pounds, in favor of a privately owned property that the monarch manages via private funds.

The announcement that made things official read, "The king has been pleased by letters patent under the great seal of the realm dated 3 November 2025 to declare that Andrew Mountbatten Windsor shall no longer be entitled to hold and enjoy the style, title or attribute of ‘royal highness’ and the titular dignity of ‘prince’.”
