Pressure is on to make 'Rush Hour 4'
The report says the pressure was given to a studio head to green-light 'Rush Hour 4'
Rush Hour is a beloved franchise whose fans have long been waiting for a fourth installment. But now an influential person has lent his support to it.
U.S. President Donald Trump, as a recent report claims, has pressed David Ellison, the son of Larry Ellison, Paramount's CEO, to give the movie the go-ahead.
It is worth noting that the rights to the franchise lie with New Line Cinema, which Warner Bros. Discovery owns.
Here it gets interesting, as the Ellison family is reportedly bidding to acquire the media company.
Besides this report in Semafor, another one in World of Reel claims the U.S. president also wants Brett Ratner to direct Rush Hour 4.
He has previously helmed all films in the franchise, but the industry shunned him after his name appeared during the height of #MeToo in sexual misconduct allegations. However, he denied the accusation against him.
But what made Trump raise his name for directing the fourth instalment, according to the report, is that he has been a favourite of his. In the past, he had helmed a documentary on Melania Trump and the 2011 film Tower Heist at Trump Tower.
Meanwhile, the last film in the Rush Hour franchise was released in 2007, starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker.
