The royal family on Monday said that Princess Anne, the sister of King Charles III, attended a ceremony where she conferred honorary degrees.

"The Princess Royal, as Chancellor of the University of London, conferred honorary degrees on five honorary graduates for distinguished achievements in their respective fields," said a social media statement, which also accompanied multiple photos from the ceremony.

The statement said, "Recipients included Sir Terry Waite, co-founder of Hostage International, who was captured while seeking the release of hostages in Lebanon and spent almost five years in solitary confinement."

It added, "Also honoured were Susannah Schofield, who established the John Schofield Trust in memory of her husband, a journalist killed in action, along with Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, Kumar Mangalam Birla, and the Reverend Philip Goff."

Princess Anne, King Charles, Prince William and other members of the family have intensified their activities after the royal family came under strict media scrutiny over Andrew Mountbatten Windsor's links to late sex offender Jeffery Epstein.

The royals have tried to take the focus away from the latest scandal to hit Andrew that not only deprived him of his remaining royal titles but also saw King Charles ordering his younger brother to leave his Royal Lodge residence.

According to insiders, although Anne has remained committed to the monarchy, she and Prince Edward were of the view that King Charles's action against their sibling was too harsh.
