Kate Winslet has recently opened up about her first memorable royal encounter with King Charles III.
The Oscar winner recalls meeting the then-Prince Charles for the first time at the royal premiere of Sense and Sensibility in London in February 1996 during an appearance on latest episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! on November 18.
“The first time I met him. Oh my goodness. He had come to support the royal premiere of Sense and Sensibility when I was 20,” says the 50-year-old.
The Reader actress tells the host that she had no clue that she’s going to meet the royal highness at the time.
“I forgot about the fact that I really was wearing a kind of transparent lace outfit,” reveals Kate.
But the Revolutionary Road actress continues, “Thank God I’d worn a coat because as he’s making his way towards me, I’m like, ‘Nipples! Nipples! Nipples! Oh, my God.’”
“And then someone just went, ‘Coat!’ and [I covered myself] and went, ‘Your Majesty,’” adds Kate.
The actress now serves as an ambassador for The King’s Foundation, Charles’ educational charity along with a number of other notable stars like David Beckham, Sienna Miller and Rod Stewart.
Meanwhile, Kate described Charles as “really an extraordinary man,” adding, “He’s very, very kind and extremely empathetic and very, very generous.”
