Prince William and Kate have ushered in the Remembrance season with a subtle yet symbolic update to their social media presence.
Following a whirlwind week that saw Prince William return from official duties in Rio de Janeiro, the royal couple refreshed their Kensington Royal accounts on Twitter with a poignant new profile photo.
The chosen image captures William and Kate at the 2024 Royal British Legion’s Festival of Remembrance, a fitting nod to their continued commitment to honouring Britain’s service men and women.
“A special evening at The Royal Albert Hall for this year's Festival of Remembrance,” they wrote, “honouring the service of, and the sacrifices made by, the British and Commonwealth Armed Forces community.”
On Sunday, the couple followed up with a moving note of reflection: “We pause to reflect on the extraordinary bravery and sacrifice of all who have served and continue to serve in defence of our freedoms. We remember them, today and always.”
While the Prince was notably absent from this year’s event at London’s Royal Albert Hall, his eldest son, Prince George, proudly stepped into the spotlight alongside his mother.
The young prince watched attentively as the nation reflected on sacrifice and service, in a festival commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
Hosted by Ted Lasso’s Hannah Waddingham, the evening featured stirring performances from Rod Stewart, Sam Ryder, and Keala Settle ensuring that remembrance was observed with both reverence and resonance.
That same day, King Charles led the nation in the annual Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph, laying the first wreath before passing the solemn honour to his son.
