King and Queen honour Britain’s bravest at annual ceremony

King Charles commanded the Royal Albert Hall with calm authority this evening, steering the Royal Family through a poignant Festival of Remembrance, a night where heartfelt tribute and solemn reflection took centre stage, leaving pomp and pageantry in the wings.

The poignant event, a cornerstone of the royal calendar, pays tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the Armed Forces and honours those who gave their lives in service to the nation.

Arriving in understated elegance, the King and Queen were joined by a full royal lineup.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Princess Kate, and young Prince George, who made a rare public appearance for the occasion. Together, they filled the royal box with quiet dignity and deep respect.

This year’s festival carries an especially meaningful note, featuring a tribute to LGBT personnel in the Armed Forces to mark 25 years since the UK Government lifted its ban on gay, lesbian, and bisexual people serving openly.

Prince William, meanwhile, was notably absent, his return from Brazil delayed after attending the Earthshot Prize Awards, where he championed global innovators tackling climate change. Duty of a different kind, one might say.

For young Prince George, tonight offered a first glimpse into one of the most symbolic and reflective events on the royal calendar.

The evening will draw to a solemn close with the Act of Remembrance and the haunting notes of the Last Post, before the Royal Family quietly departs the Royal Albert Hall leaving behind a reminder of the enduring sacrifices that shape Britain’s history and its future generations.
