Katy Perry sparks outrage among fans with 'disgusting' video

Katy Perry triggered her fans with a recent video from her tour backstage, where she was seen celebrating along with her team.

The 41-year-old pop star sent fans into a frenzy after a video clip of her cutting a cake and then smashing it on the floor was shared on X.

The video gained thousands of views on social media, and netizens began to criticise the ET hitmaker for the “tone-deaf” act.

A social media user wrote, “Katy Perry’s team surprised her with a birthday cake and she straight up threw the whole thing at someone, wasting it all… this woman is actually pathetic,” alongside the video.

Another echoed, “When will Privileged Perry stop living in a bubble, a bubble & see the trouble, trouble?,” while a third chimed in, “Katy, you're cancelled again.”

Joining the backlash train, others wrote, “why do you throw that cake and ask your workers to eat the cake that is already on the floor? This is disgusting,” and “Sad … how far she has fallen.”

Some listed more “problematic acts” the Teenage Dream songstress has been criticised for, including working with Dr Luke, who was accused of heinous acts like ra-e, as well as her recent space flight, and wrote, “Katy Perry has become insufferable. She worked with a rapist and sexually assaulted someone on tv, so wasting a cake isn’t surprising.”
