Elon Musk has launched his own encyclopedia powered by his chatbot Grok, in a bid to counter the so-called “woke” Wikipedia.
The new online encyclopedia. named Grokipedia. was launched on Monday, October 27, 2025. It is designed to reflect more conservative political views as compared to its rival.
On Wikipedia, humans share information and edit articles, whereas Grokipedia is entirely generated by Musk’s AI chatbot. Humans cannot edit articles on Musk’s encyclopedia, however, they can suggest edits.
The tech billionaire pursued the idea after it was floated by the U.S. President Donald Trump’s AI and crypto czar, David Sacks, who wrote on X, “There’s a market opportunity for AI to rewrite Wikipedia just taking into account all the banned sources.”
The SpaceX CEO replied, “xAI is doing this for all human knowledge. We will open source the results.”
The idea has taken a practical shape in less than a month as the announcement was made on September 30 and launch has happened before the end of October.
Musk stated that Grokipedia is super important for human civilization and will help understand the universe.
The tech mogul claims that version 1.0 of Grokipedia will be 10X better than Wikipedia, adding, “but even at 0.1 it is better.”
