Meghan Markle shares cosy secret for kids’ comfort at home

Meghan Markle gave fans a rare peek into her parenting routine during a special event at Godmothers Bookstore in Summerland, California. 

The Duchess of Sussex revealed that she and Prince Harry have a heartwarming ritual with a “healing blanket” gifted to the family by the store’s co-founder, Victoria Jackson.

Whenever Archie or Lilibet aren’t feeling their best, she explained, the children wrap themselves in the blanket, finding comfort and calm in the cosy ritual. 

Known for sharing glimpses of her family life through her Netflix series With Love, Meghan, the Duchess rarely discusses the intimate details of her parenting making this insight all the more endearing.

“It’s a little ritual that helps them feel safe and loved,” Meghan shared.

Child psychologist Dr. Sasha Hall weighed in on the practice, noting that it reflects a common principle in early childhood, “Young children think in concrete ways, so having a specific object associated with feeling better can be very reassuring. 

The comfort comes not from the object itself, but from the act of receiving it, which provides security and a sense that things are being taken care of.”

Meghan also shared insights into her morning and travel routines, “First thing I do when I wake up is turn on the music in the house,” she said, adding that she carries a portable charger to keep routines intact while traveling. 

She also “always travels with a candle,” explaining that familiar scents help maintain a sense of home.
