A source close to the Royal Family believes that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are being treated unfairly amid Prince Andrew's title controversy.

King Charles' scandal plagued-brother recently shocked the public by announcing that he is giving up all his royal titles and honours in the wake of serious allegations linked to Jeffrey Epstein.

Now the sisters have faced criticism over their lavish lifestyle, as they were raised by Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.

For context, Prince Andrew's finances are currently under scrutiny after it was revealed on Monday that he has been living at Royal Lodge without paying rent.

He has reportedly been paying only a minimal fee for his 30-room Windsor residence for more than two decades.

New reports suggest that the Andrew has been paying only his water bills from 'time to time.'

According to reports, these bills amounted to approximately £743 annually totalling an estimated £14,860 over his two decades of residence.

On Tuesday, MPs from the Commons Treasury Committee and the Public Accounts Committee signalled they may now investigate the Crown Estate's handling of the Royal Lodge lease.

A source told the Mail: 'Bea and Eugenie should be treated in a completely different way from their parents.

'They are lovely women who want to make a useful contribution to society.'

It comes after reports emerged that King Charles is keen to 'protect' his nieces, who remain Her Royal Highnesses as granddaughters of Queen Elizabeth II.

A source added: 'The King would not have wanted to sign off on anything that would impact them.'
