Taylor Swift shares thank-you note to fans as she celebrates 'TLOAS' success
Taylor Swift gets emotional as she details going from selling 40k copies at 16 years old to 4 million copies
Taylor Swift is thanking fans 4 million times over as she celebrates achieving the levels of success her 16-year-old self never dreamed of.
Following record-breaking sales of her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, Swift shared a thank-you note to fans on her Instagram, reflecting on her journey from a hopeful 16-year-old musician to a multi-Grammy-winning pop superstar.
“I’ll never forget how excited I was in 2006 when my first album sold 40,000 copies in its first week. I was 16 and couldn’t even fathom that that many people would care enough about my music to invest their time and energy into it,” she began in the caption accompanying a TLOAS-themed photo snapped by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggot, set to the outro of the album’s titular song.
The 35-year-old added, “Since then I’ve tried to meet and thank as many people as I could who have given me the chance to chase this insane dream.”
Ever since TLOAS’s release on October 3, Swift has sold upwards of 4 million copies — surpassing Adele’s record. Reflecting on the achievement, she wrote, “Here we are all these years later and a hundred times that many people showed up for me this week. I have 4 million thank you’s I want to send to the fans, and 4 million reasons to feel even more proud of this album than I already was.”
The singer-songwriter continued to thank fans “immersing [themselves] in The Life of a Showgirl,” whether it be going to the theatres or buying vinyl and CDs, or even just streaming the music and music videos.
"I’ll cherish this feeling forever. Just wow. Thank you for the lovely bouquet,” she concluded the emotional message, referencing the lyrics of The Life of a Showgirl (feat. Sabrina Carpenter).
Swift shared the thank-you note on October the 13th, which is famously her lucky number. Earlier in the day, she announced her upcoming six-part documentary for The Eras Tour, The End of an Era.
She also spent the day at Arrowhead Stadium, cheering on her fiancé Travis Kelce at his Kansas City Chiefs match against the Detroit Lions.
