Leighton Meester breaks silence on leaked songs from unreleased album
Leighton Meester released music through the years such as 'Somebody to Love' and 'Your Love's a Drug'
Leighton Meester apart from having a successful acting career, has also made her mark in the music industry.
The Gossip Girls star, who has been booked and busy, wasn't aware of the latest leak from 20 years old music project.
In an interview with People magazine, the mother of two revealed how the old songs got released out of nowhere.
"I hate to say, but I don't exactly know what [happened]," Meester said, referring to the August release of tracks Body Control and Your Lies Are the Truth / Almost Perfect.
"I didn't know about that at all, but I think sometimes a contract randomly expires and then is renewed with some streaming platforms, so that kind of thing just pops up and it seems like it's newly on there."
Meester continued, "I've had other stuff going on. I had a show come out this year, and I was working on that, so I just hadn't really paid attention."
The Roommate actress first appeared as a guest vocalist on the Cobra Starship's single Good Girls Go Bad, which made it into top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.
Meester later recorded few country songs from 2010 film Country Strong and released music throughout the years, such as Somebody to Love with Robin Thicke and Your Love's a Drug.
After a brief hiatus from music, she returned with the more folk-laced album Heartstrings.
As for her current engagements the actress is set to appear in in season 2 of Nobody Wants This, where she will star along with her husband Adam Brody.
The show is set to premiere on October 23.
