While Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham have long since ended their romantic relationship, fans are still clinging to the hope that the iconic Fleetwood Mac duo might one day make it official.
With both artists reportedly single at the moment, speculation has picked up again, especially in the wake of Nicks’ sweet birthday wish to Buckingham, who turned 76 on October 3, 2025.
Taking to her Instagram Stories on Friday, the 77-year-old songstress wrote in white letters, "Wishing you the best Birthday ever @lindseybuckingham! Love's ya! Stevie," over a solid deep purple background.
The simple yet affectionate birthday post reignited fan fantasies, with many begging the pair to finally get married.
However, neither of the two has teased anything beyond friendship, leaving fans to wonder if the door is truly closed, or just slightly ajar.
For decades, fans have speculated about the possibility of a romantic reunion between Fleetwood Mac legends which was fueled further recently on the September 19 reissue of Buckingham Nicks.
It was the first album for both artists, originally released in 1973, a year before they joined Fleetwood.
For the unversed, the Dreams vocalists famously dated in the early 1970s, years before they launched into stardom with Fleetwood Mac.
Though their romantic relationship ended by the time the band released its iconic album Rumours in 1977, their complex dynamic continued to play out both in their music and in the public eye.
Despite their fiery onstage chemistry they never married and even moved on.
Buckingham married Kristen Messner in 2000, with whom he shares three children. Nicks, on the other hand, was briefly married once in 1983 to Kim Anderson. Neither has remarried since.
Although Nicks has hinted in interviews that marriage with Buckingham might have been possible if they hadn’t been swept up in the chaos of the music industry, she also made it clear that she has no intention of rekindling a romantic relationship with him, disappointing their fans.
In short, while fans have long hoped to see Nicks and Buckingham finally "tie the knot," there’s little to suggest that possibility is anywhere on the horizon.
