Piers Morgan deals fresh blow to Meghan Markle, Prince Harry
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle mocked by Piers Morgan in new extraordinary rant
Piers Morgan has once again turned his guns on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, claiming they are as "popular as Ebola" in an extraordinary rant.
The British journalist and TV presenter, who has been vocal about his disapproval of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, reiterates he has no regret over questioning Meghan's claims.
In his new book, 'Woke Is Dead', published in the Daily Mail, the 65-year-old host claims that the couple's attacks on the monarchy were designed to "boost their own brand" but the institution was "doing what monarchy does - enduring, calmly above the fray".
Morgan, who quit Good Morning Britain in 2021 after being challenged for his comments about the Duchess, has not changed his opinion about Meghan and Harry yet. He previously clashed with the Sussexes, notably after the former Suits star's Oprah Winfrey interview in the same year.
He famously stormed off the set while on air and quit the show after saying he did not believe Meghan's claims that she felt suicidal while part of the royal family.
He added: "Brand Sussex, meanwhile, is now about as popular as Ebola."
Morgan focused on Meghan's claims that she was subject to racism from within the family when two royals allegedly asked what colour their son Prince Archie would be before he was born.
He also blasted their Netflix docuseries, claiming it "made relentless distasteful use of Harry's late mother, Princess Diana, to stoke sympathy for Meghan".
The former editor admitted: "The British tabloid press has undeniably behaved badly in the past, mirroring times when society writ large was far less tolerant of minorities of all kinds. But Harry and Meghan got none of that.
He continued: "Meghan was in fact lauded for bringing diversity and star power to the dated monarchy."
Morgan writes that the couple rode "a woke wave of self-pitying martyrdom," but added: "...waves have to break in the end - and so does the public's patience with liars. None of Harry and Meghan's most sensational accusations of royal racism...has ever been supported by a shred of verified independent evidence."
He added: "Harry and Meghan threw the kitchen sink at mobilising culture warriors for their crusade. There was victimhood, trauma, mental health, social justice, racial justice, personalised truth."
