Meghan Markle accused of drawing Princess Diana comparisons after Geneva speech

Following Meghan Markle's emotional speech in Geneva, critics are claiming that the duchess is attempting to spark her comparison with late Princess Diana.

On May 17, the former Suits actress unveiled The Lost Screen Memorial in Geneva, Switzerland and delivered a speech on harmful effects of online content on kids including eating disorders.

A report by Radaronline.com suggested that it was a deliberate attempt by Meghan to be compared with Prince Harry's mother, as Diana also talked about her battle with bulimia nervosa, an eating disorder, before passing away in 1997.

An insider said of the critical reaction, "There were definitely people who felt Meghan's speech carried emotional parallels to Diana's very public struggle with eating disorders and mental health. Critics believe she understands exactly how powerful those associations are and that invoking subjects so closely linked to Diana inevitably reignites comparisons between the two women."

The source continued, "Others close to Meghan insist that interpretation is unfair and that she was speaking about a genuine public health crisis affecting children online. But there's no question that whenever issues like body image, vulnerability and media pressure are discussed by Meghan, the Diana comparisons immediately return."

In her Geneva speech, Meghan mentioned a teenager named Katie who was "hospitalised for months with a severe eating disorder."

"Children today are being shaped by systems designed to capture attention at any cost: relentless algorithms, exploitative engagement, and endless exposure to harmful content that they are not seeking out," Meghan said at the time.
