Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor described as valuable UK asset in new files
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor lost his royal titles and residence over his links to Jeffrey Epstein
An assessment of former prince Andrew's position as Britain's trade Representative concluded that the former duke represented a "highly valuable UK asset" for British commerce.
According to a report in GB News citing documents from Epstein files, the former prince arranged for the independent assessment that was conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2008.
The report said that following this endorsement, ministers appeared to approve expanded financial support for Mountbatten-Windsor's activities, ranging from accommodation, travel and other related expenses.
According to The i Paper, details of the “independent strategic review” emerged through a contract discovered within the Epstein archive, dating from when Mr Mountbatten-Windsor's office underwent expansion in June 2009.
The contract read: “The review indicated that HRH was highly valued by UK businesses and that he should continue to develop the role as a unique and highly valuable UK asset.
“The government agreed and provided strong endorsement with increased funding to support the duke’s activities.”
Mountbatten-Windsor held the position of special representative for international trade and investment between 2001 and 2011, serving without salary but with Government-funded travel, accommodation and staffing costs.
The father of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie was arrested in February 2026 on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
Although he was released just hours after being arrested, the disgraced royal still remains under investigation.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor lost his royal titles and got evicted from his royal lodge in Windsor by King Charles III over his links to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
