Palace issues crucial update on tearful Princess Anne, King Charles
Buckingham Palace shares heartfelt moment of the Princess Royal with King Charles III
King Charles III's only sister Princess Kate got emotional as she unveiled the new portrait of the monarch at the Scottish Parliament.
In the stunning photo, which was taken in the Sunken Garden at Balmoral Castle, the 76-year-old King is seen wearing kilt and holding walking stick.
The heartwarming moment, that brought tears in the Princess Royal's eyes, was shared by the royal family on their official Instagram on Friday, September 26.
The Palace wrote a message along with the pictures, which show him in the Sunken Garden at his beloved Highlands estate. He looks stunning in a traditional kilt with the King Charles III tartan.
The statement read: "A new portrait of The King has been unveiled at the Scottish Parliament by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal."
It added: "The image of The King will sit alongside a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which was unveiled by The Princess Royal in 2011."
The picture was captured in 2024 by photographer Millie Pilkington ahead of the King's participation in events to mark the Parliament's 25th anniversary, but it has now officially gone on display at the building in Edinburgh.
Zara Tindall's mother, Princess Anne, was given the honour of unveiling the portrait amid a busy day of engagements in Scotland.
The King is said to be in residence at his Scottish abode, after the Prince of Wales was seen travelling to Aberdeen earlier this week for a private father-son meeting.
