OpenAI launches ChatGPT Pulse for proactive daily briefs
OpenAI pivots to anticipatory AI with launch of ChatGPT Pulse
OpenAI has unveiled a new feature, ChatGPT Pulse, introducing a significant change in its AI approach and transforming the chatbot into a proactive daily assistant, rather than a reactive one.
The service, already available in preview to Pro subscribers on mobile, aims to provide an anonymized morning brief and is achieved through asynchronous research on behalf of the user.
Every night, the system combines information from the user's memory, chat history, and direct feedback to establish relevant topics. The following morning, it provides a refined stream of updates as cards of visual displays. Such briefs may contain follow-ups on topics already covered, recipes, or an action plan for long-term objectives, such as event training.
To gain a better understanding, users have the option to integrate their Gmail and Google Calendar accounts, enabling ChatGPT to write meeting agendas, remind them about birthdays, or offer recommendations on places to visit.
This is developed based on the GPT-5 foundation model, which has a massive context window, allowing it to multitask with huge amounts of personal information to generate consistent and helpful summaries.
According to the company, user control will always be at the center, as people can shape the topics by informing ChatGPT about what they find useful or not, and future updates will be influenced by this feedback.
Safety checks are also done on all the content to ensure that no harmful material is displayed.
OpenAI makes Pulse the logical continuation of its recent release of agent mode, transforming ChatGPT into a service you look up to, and making it an assistant that silently increases your productivity.
The company recognizes that Pulse is a preview that is not always reliable, but displays an essential change to an AI that predicts needs instead of merely responding to questions.
